Default Custom spring question

I was wondering if you guys know of any place to get custom springs. Here is my plan: I want linear 246 springs for the back of my car (94 GS-R) to match up to type r shocks all around and standard type r springs up front. I want the linear rate for more responsive rotation, and want a full stroke spring ( no GC coil-overs), basically a type r rear spring but not progressive (I know it will be a harsher ride, but I can live with it). Thanks for any help you can lend, it is very much appreciated. TIA.

Not sure why you don't want to get a GC sleeve/ERS spring combo. The 0800.250.250 (8"length, 2.5" ID,250#) spring needs to move 4.99" before it coil binds. That is 4.99" of COMPRESSION only. I wouldn't think that you would get more compression travel out of the stock spring before hitting the bumpstops.

Thanks. If nothing else, at least I can do that. BTW, where would I find those?

I would like to still find a place where you can get plain springs, as I want a non-adjustable suspension to reduce variables. As long as my car is ready, I hope to start auto-xing next summer. I want to upgrade my suspension because the suspension on there is getting quite worn out (112,000 on the odometer), and I figure it is pointless to replace the suspension with new stock pieces when I could pay a little more for a funner more rotatable setup, which is something I want anyway, auto-x or not. Once again, TIA.

Plain springs? What is a plain spring? Linear springs are about as plain as you can get. What you're asking for is a linear spring that has a diameter that'll fit a stock spring perch and have open ends. The open end part will be a deal killer.

What you're asking for is a custom spring winding, which would be $$$. If you're dead set against ITR springs, you're out of luck. Maybe you should just try the ITR springs?

http://www.coilsprings.com/

This place has an excellent reputation with the old Celica crowd. Call them, tell them the specs you want (or let them tell you).

Expect to pay $150 or so for a set of 2.

http://www.ground-control.com. just because you have the sleeves, doesn't mean you will need to keep adjusting them. are you just trying to avoid a overly stiff ride? gc can supply you with custom kit. you can also use opm if you like doing business on the right coast vs. the left.
linear springs are much more predictable, no matter the rates, for aggressive driving, street or race course.

Thanks a lot. I am checking into the coilsprings.com. If I cant get them there I will go with ground controll. Anyway, thanks again.
