Seems like this might be a close AutoX club to you

http://www.sccagrr.com

AutoX is usually done in large open spaces like a big empty parking lot, or old military runways. There should be a lot of info on that site, or you can go to SCCA.com for more info on AutoX (aka Solo2).

If you want to do HPDE/Track days look up NASA MidWest. www.nasamidwest.com

You also have WMHM coming up, a mostly-Honda HPDE event, held at Gingerman Raceway in Michigan. That's in July, with registration filling up REAL fast. There are lots of experienced (and inexperienced) people there who'd be more than happy to guide you.Pat, one of the local track ******, was also kind enough to put this list of local events and groups together: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...ighlight=track

Blackhawk Farms Raceway is in Rockton, IL (just north of Rockford). Autobahn Country Club is in Joliet, IL. Both of these are dedicated tracks and pretty close.

You can autocross on these tracks with Midwestern Council (see link in my sig). MC also does an autocross school twice a year (April 18 and July 18). It is a too late for the April school, but the July school is still ahead.

FWIW, you came here with a great attitude, looking to better yourself. You won't ever receive criticism for that kind of question with that outlook

Agreed Stinky.. good tude, and looking to get off the streets will get you more help, than the annoying (shocks and springs set up, or what tires are you using) song.
It gets old after a while. Seems like nobody searches anymore..
I am always happy to point a street racer in the right path, than to have him/her continue to run illegally, and hurt someone else or themselves.
Thanks for taking responsibility rick!

Like someone already mentioned, both Blackhawk Farms and Autobahn Country Club are close to you. NASA is running at both tracks this season. You can go to www.nasamidwest.com for more information if you are interested. I might have a slightly biased opinion, but I don't think you will find many better instructors than you will get at a NASA event.
