Default Which class?

Ok so I want to get into auto-x but I am not sure which class I would be in or want to be in. I have a 90 civic dx hatch I have a b18a motor in it and integra suspension all around. Now with all these swaps I think it would put me into a class that I am not ready for. I know I should just get out there an do it but I really want to get some info before I do. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Before you do something crazy like that, go to a local event, run the car, have some fun and don't worry about the results.

You will have a lot of learning to do before you need to start worrying about the class you are running. Also, until you run a few events, you will have no idea of what class you will really be interested in running in the future. You may even decide that SM really is the class for you.

SM as was mentioned before.

Run SM for now, you'd spend a lot more time and money getting back into stock or even STS trim. Putting an Si motor will still keep you in SM since you don't have the factory motor.

You have a nice building block, a DX hatch is a fairly light chassis. Run for a while and get seat time, don't worry about losing for right now. Once you get a few years of experience you'll get a feel for whether or not the car is worth keeping.

Like I keep telling everyone, it doesn't matter what you run. Its all a matter of how good you are, and in order to get good you need seat time.

If I put the si motor back in wouldnt I be in sp? If I was reading right it says you can use any motor for that year whether it is a different trim level or was given as an option.

As long as same models are listed on the same line in the rule book you can switch parts back and forth.

I really don't care if you're driving a Ferrari or a Yugo. Autocrossing is ALWAYS fun! Just drive what you got.

bingo. don't touch the car for now, just run what you have. after you have a year or two under your belt you'll either be decent at the local level (yes, even in what you have) or you'll have seen the light and gone a totally different route.

just go out and have fun for now... worry about classing and being competitive later.
