Chassis Engineers: Anyone have DC2 Chassis Model File?
A doubtful possibility, but thought I'd ask.
If anyone has or can obtain a model file for the DC2 or DC2R chassis, I am willing to pay a signifcant amount for it.
Any info would be appreciated.

Get in touch with rodney,
I'm pretty certain he can get his hands on all the schematics and engineering plans for the DC2.
We're all racing this weekend so just leave an IM or Email for him and he'll get back to you by Monday hopefully, I'll mention it to him though when I see him tomorrow as well...

Don't trust the Honda engineers? Seriously, what are your goals with this? I'm not trivializing your request, but someone would have to go through a LOT of trouble to make an accurate CAD model of a unibody car in their spare time.

Goals? My own personal amusement. I have access to FEA software, and I would love to play around with different setups, and see where chassis deflection is greatest, so that I might improve my own car.

so you want to mesh the entire DC2 unibody. LOFTY goal there..... good luck finding such a document for free...

Automakers aren't in the business of making sloppy frames. If you're looking for blatant weak spots you're going to be dissapointed. Aside from the usual uprgrades (strut bars, cross braces, roll cage) you're going to find yourself bracing the chassis in ways that severely limit the functionality of the car. Are you finding the DC2 chassis lacking in rigidity?

Here's my thinking.
Everybody seems to have a bar running between the rear shock towers.
A few people who are really interested in "rigidity" have bars running between the rear shoulder harness mounts.
I've been looking, and looking, and looking at the driver and passenger side handgrabs and visor mounts.......and I just know that somewhere out there somebody is gonna do it.
Scott, who says "that's what I think"......

sackdz maybe you should put your effort into vehicle dynamics simulation; the suspension geometry would be much easier data to obtain, the software is out there, and you have a lot more variables to change; in the end i think you'll gain more speed pre time spent than doing FEA, if you are actually racing a DC2. If not, and you are interested in FEA itself, thats cool too. Just a thought.

Re: Chassis Engineers: Anyone have DC2 Chassis Model File? (NegativeLift)
Ed, I have wanted to ask this question for some time now also, just to lazy to ask. My reasoning wasnt for a FEA, but for designing parts and some ***** and giggles.
I have seen some GM, Ford, and alot of Nissan data that has come through work. However I have not yet seen a whole chassis or a whole car assy.
Being a job shop (design) we might be able to get something, but it might be hard. I will start asking around tomorrow and see if its possible.
What kind of file are you looking for; stp, iges, or a parasolid? We have Catia, Ideas, UG, and solidworks if that helps you any if you need anything translated.
ps. I dont think I should say this but we have whole model files of some gm engines.

Ryan, let's get together this/next weekend and chat. You gonna be in town?
I've got Ideas. Oh, and IDEAS too!

The words "proprietary information" and "confidentiality agreement" come to mind.
