Camden NJ AX this weekend
Does anyone live close enough to this event to check out the lot status? Is there snow and ice all over it or is it clear?
Thanks
Thanks

No clue actually since I'm about 45 minutes. There used to be a web cam that showed the state of the lot but I think that is no long available. You might ask on the PHAX yahoo group. Its philly region specific and usually someone will report on the state of the lot. I'll let you know if I hear anything since I plan on being there.

it's clear. i live off of rt38 (which runs into the ben franklin bridge) and i'm in philly all the time. even if it wasn't before today, it rained all day and most of the snow's gone anyway.

I'll second the "it's clear" part. Looking forward to getting out there this weekend if I can at all..
If you see a tallish skinny guy in a funky french foreign legion style hat near a faded, peeling blue 86 RX-7, stop by and say "Hi!" My name is James..
of course, there's always a chance I won't be able to make it..

i would love to go as well, as long as the lot if clear. i have no interest in autocrossing on snow. although it would be fun, i am not in the mood for it. any idea how the event is run? average amount of runs? average course length? thanks.

Re: Camden NJ AX this weekend (rodney)
All cars are classed accordingly to SCCA rules.
Each class is assigned to one of 4 run groups.
You run usually 5 times approx 40 to 45 seconds per run.
You are responsible to work (track, truck etc.) for 1 run group.
I really like the Camden lot, usually good course set ups.
Dress warm since you are right by the water.
I'll be there with my money pit, ready to rock.

i ran one event at camden last year. they run a really good event, well organized and safe. my biggest gripe was that you could choose which heat you run in. i much rather prefer to run all the cars that make up one class in a heat rather then spread them out. there's probably a logistics reason for this though, since you won't always get the same spread of drivers to balance out each heat for workers. would i do it again? yep, in fact i wanted to go down this weekend myself, but i'm still missing some things. like motivation for one.

Re: Camden NJ AX this weekend (solo-x)
I may not be able to make the one this weekend as the team is still sorting out the chassis (Cornell's FSAE car), but the one in three weeks is probably the realistic goal. The car was just finished this week and the sketchy items are being identified and resolved.

Well... I'm definitely going now. Registered and all. Despite my better judgement I'm letting rodney drive my car!!! Looks like time for some good ole fashioned competition! Look out A-Stock.

I saw pics of you bastards doing donuts in the parking lot. Our car would be close if it wasn't for the damn engine (as usual...)
Guess there's no chance of dragging a Cornell car down here huh

Yeah, You know I'm just repaying the debt from when you let me drive yer Civic. If you could, I KNOW I'm asking alot here, try not to break the car too badly. I can't afford to own two cars that don't move under their own power.

just remember. diff to full rear and if theres tight turns (deep 1st gear), dont mind the center diff noises

Yeah, I've felt/heard the diff on a couple REALLY tight (slower and tighter then most autox stuff) turns on the street in auto mode. I'd imagine it's not as severe with the diff set as open as it can be. I pretty sure the logic locks the diff under extreme lateral accel in auto mode.
I'll have to try and set the diff to full lock for Chris's runs.

Re: Camden NJ AX this weekend (Lo-Buck EF)
That webcam that oversaw that parking lot in Camden was owned by Lockheed Martin, and they have since moved their offices. So the webcam is gone.
It's around 40 deg and pouring rain around here now. And it's supposed to be in the mid 40s tomorrow, cloudy and windy, but dry. I wish that there would be some snow and ice on the lot, since my car is on snow tires at the moment. But it looks like it should be clear and pretty dry by tomorrow morning. I won't be there unless there is some snow on the ground because Michelin Artic Alpins aren't much fun to drive on on dry pavement...

I can't... from what I heard is permission to use the lot was denied, not given, take back, not ready yet... some thing... not sure...
No autox 4 me this weekend... nothin left to do but get drunk.
Now the REAL question is if I should call Chris and tell him not to make the 3 hour drive down tomorrow morning... Damn, would he be pissed!
