Beginner alignment settings
I drive a 1988 Civic DX hatch. It is from an old race series called the "Challenge Honda Michelin". The car is street driven but I will be running it in our local road race series (I don't expect to be competitive, just wanna race). I have just installed my new shocks and springs and have to get an alignment. I'm on a tight budget and don't have any special adjustability. I have about 20 Solo 1 and track days experience, but none with this car. I was thinking that for now, I should just make both sides symmetrical and set the camber about where it is after the lowering. I have no idea for caster and toe. I am welcome to any suggestions. The car is street legal and driven to events. I don't care about tire wear on the street. Here are the specs:
1988 hatchback, weight? car is stripped out except dash and door panels, race seat, 6-point chromoly cage with door bars. I figure the weight must be near the stock figure of about 1950 lbs.
Blueprinted DX 1,5 SOHC
Shocks: KYB GR-2
Springs: H&R Race
Brakes: stock, braided lines, Hawk HP Plus pads
Wheels and tires: 205-60-13 Hankook Z2000 on VW steel wheels, also 185-60-13 Hankook Z2000 on OEM 1992 Civic VX mags. The Z2000 is an R-compound DOT tire with lower performance than Toyo RA-1 or Yokohama A032, treadwear 80.
The races here are run on short raod circuits, relatively tight of about 1.2 miles.
I don't know what the settings are now, so maybe someone can suggest an ideal baseline setting and then a realistic one that I can attain without camber plates/kits. Thanks for any info, more specs upon request.

I don't have any specific data for you but just had to pipe up and say that the Honda Challenge was AWESOME. We used to see them on the west coast at Westwood and they came to Seattle Int'l Raceway one year. Very, very cool.

My car is the one in the top left photo. I recently re-acquired the original alloy wheels from another ex-Challenge car to make mine historically correct. The specs of my car are largely unchanged from the original ones of 1988. Recent pics of my car can be seen at http://www.geocities.com/basileracing/civic4.html
