Default battery in the back

i'm building a track civic and i wanna put my battery in the back .... i got the relocation kit and all but waht my question is .... in the engine bay there is 2 weries that go to positvie cable .... 1. starter 2. fuse box .... so when i out my battery in the back do i just run a wire to the starter or do i have to run one to the fuse box too ? and a second question is .... i heard that i have to install a shut off switch on the battery .... why , where do i hook it up and where can i get one ....

If anyone has a pic of how they did all this or any pics of it it'd be really helpfull
thanx ...

Why are you relocating it to the back? With all the cabling required to move the battery and the box to secure it properly, you dont save anyweight. You are much better off just mounting a lightweight battery in the stock location - its really not much of a penalty since its up against the firewall. Another thing to consider is what happens to a battery in a cheap *** battery box bolted in the hatch in a violent impact. It will likely come loose and then you have a 10lb projectile in the cabin.

The only real reason to move the battery to the back is to try and move weight to the rear of the car for balance. If you have a full cage this will more than help offset the balance issue. I agree with RJ here, you reall don't need to relocate. Just go small.

I'd get a Hawker Genesis G13EP battery and scrap moving it to the back. That battery is 10.8#, should have no problem firing up a Civic, and can be found for $45.

I also scrapped the idea of the battery to the rear and went the lightweight battery route.....see you can learn some positive stuff on HT...
