4-Point Harness width?
Ok I am in the market for a good 4 point harness and came across 2 very good deals for Sparco harnesses. I can get either the 2" cam lock or the 3" competition camlock harness for $22 dollars more. Is the 3" overkill or should I go ahead and get it since I can get the whole package with anit-sub belts for only a couple extra bucks. I'll be autocrossing with aspirations of roadracing in the future as money becomes available. I'm figuring that I might as well go with the 3" now to save money in the future. What do you guys think.

go with the 3" and get a 5 point instead. with 4 point, and you tighten the shoulder straps, the buckle/latch ends up riding up into your stomach, not a comfortable way to drive.
I have Schroth Profi II-FE asm harness belts and I like them a lot. The shoulder belts are 3" wide and the lap belts 2". The narrower lap belts fit my hips better than 3" belts, and allow me to crank up the tension.
I bought mine from Brett at Soloracer.com

Soloracer stopped selling the Profi on the website. I did go ahead and get the 3" Sparco harness with a dual sub belt so I guess it could be classified as a 6-point. Thanks guys

The bummer is that for SCCA road racing, your harness has to be less than 2 years old - by the date on the SFI tag. I am Safety Boy but this is overkill.

I better get hopin. At least I may have 1 year of use for it. It's not going to be a total waste but it does look like I'll be going to driving school sooner than I originally had planned. Damn what a shame.......oh wait no.
