1983 Civic Race Car Have an A20A1 motor in car now - Need Transmission swap ideas
Hello,
I am new to the group and looking for some help in interchanging transmissions. I currently have quite a mess of a collection of parts assembled and don't know how to intermix them. I have a 1983 civic hatchback that was built as an SCCA race car. It has a built 1989 Accord 2.0 liter A20A1 motor and the Accord manual 5 speed with a welded differential. The car works well at the drag strip with the welded differential, but I would like to get rid of the differential and go with a Quaife differential instead. I would like to autocross the car and it is just too hard to drive it as it is. Can anyone tell me what transmission will work with the A20A1 motor that I can also get a Quaife for?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The only diff, I THINK that will fit is from the 86-89 Integras. I know the gears will fit, make a good short gear upgrade for the A20, but I don't know about the diff. Check on 3geez. Short of that, give Quaife a call.

hi!
the shop that works on my car (Northend Performance) has a built '84 CRX with an A series motor in it. turboed! and they have some kind of hybrid tranny in it; i can check on it and let you know if you like???
that thing is FAST; it weighs nothing and is super torquey. feels like the car is going to take off and fly when you mash it at 80 mph.....
