Also, the driverside fender has some noticable bondo steps that i could have sworn i sanded down (i couldnt feel any roughness with my hands).

But, at the end of the day, its fine, better than uneven white with the old color coming through.

For $100 you could have used a single stage automotive paint. It would have looked 100x better

If your talking about the Dupli-Color stuff that is supposed to "color-match", then your mistaken. Its still aerosol, and isnt the best at even coverage.

If your talking about something requiring a gun/compressor, then your a jackass because this was supposed to be rattle canned..thats what i do.

I'm talking about paint from a paint shop. It does turn out decent:

This is the first time I have painted anything with a gun and it turned out better than your best rattle can job.

You don't need a big compressor either. I used a 15 gallon. The gun was also cheap at $50.

When did this turn into a HVLP vs. aerosol debate? I never said anything along the lines of, "i can make my rattle job look better than an HVLP job". Just so you know, I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE MY CAR TO A SHOP, OR TO BUY THE GUN/COMPRESSOR MYSELF.

I could have easily attempted the "right" way of doing it, but honestly, i dont really give a **** about your opinion, because you're mainly just bosting instead of putting out a good argument.

are you guys serious saying that this looks good? you guys are no body men or have never worked in a collision repair shop. A paint job done with a rattle can is nothing close to the quality of paint job done right with a spray gun in a booth. if you cant spray your car right then you shouldnt bother spraying at all. thats some cheap rice stuff.

Again, when did i ever say that i can make this look better than a shop quality paint job? I didnt....Secondly, how is aerosol rice? That doesnt even make any sense!

Just please, STFU because you're turning this into a debate when it was neve rmeant to be.

It wasn't meant to be a debate. However, when someone says that an obviously hideous paint job looks "good" or "clean", it sparks a debate.

With the quality of these pics, how can you tell if its really good or bad? The pics are blurry, with a lot of glare from the sun. If you're talking **** just to talk **** because of the fact its rattle canned, then just stop because its pointless.

I wont keep arguing with you guys, if you dig it, cool, if not, oh well, not aiming to please anyone really.

Bottom line, this is not a show car, not raced out, so why would i spend hundreds on paint?

Im not posting in here anymore, have fun debating with yourself!

Not one picture that you have posted in this thread is of a decent paint job. None of them have any luster, at all. Not only that, but if the car was ever to receive a real paint job then all of the rattle can paint must be stripped off, which will cost more in the long run.

The whole point of owning a car that is modified os to take pride in what you have accomplished. Is it really a big deal to spend $50 more on a paint job? If it is a big deal then fine, that's all there is to it. But don't lie to yourself and everyone else and say it looks good.

Rattle can paint jobs are most definitely rice.

Did you read this post?

Im not that happy with it...the ef sedan i posted in the almond color i was very proud of. It was painted with satin paint, i wasnt going for any gloss, the coverage was complete and even. I couldnt reproduce that with glossy type paint, which i was affraid of.

I'm actually posting this link to help you.

You don't have to spend a lot of money for decent paint.

everyone is entitled to there opening by why even debate about it. i mean sure there are better ways to do it from cheap to expensive. if the OP is satisfies with his paint job that's all the matters. regardless on the method used he did it himself and is happy with the outcome. not everyone is looking for the show finish just the satisfaction of getting the job done and moving on. people get so pissed off with the whole rattle can paint jobs but in the end its not there car. hell i don't have the time too or the connections for a spray booth or a compressor and i cant afford the down time of a correctly done paint job so a rattle can job is fine too me. different strokes for different folks.

i will say this i plan too satin black rattle can my hood, sunroof panel and hatch and use a cheap hlvp gun and a compressor to paint the rest of the car silver.its all in the prep work really.

It's "good" and "clean" for a rattle can job.

It's the internet. Everyone's allowed to have an opinion. Having had a rattle canned car I can say that yes, for the money it's a great option and can look good. I also know that it won't last long and a real paint job is better, yes.

Point here is, it's his car let him do what he wishes. I think it looks good.
