quick question about primer and paint
Okay I am in the middle of fixing my 1/4 pannels with the por-15 method. I am 90 percent done I have the por on and it primerd up I am just kind confused on the last step.
I was just thinking if I go ahead and put the paint on it now wont there still be a primer line? do I have to take the masking tape off and move it back a small bit?
How do you guys get the new paint and old paint to match up all smooth. I have been trying to get this info by searching the net but im having troubles. any help is greatly appricatied.
If you guys want some pics to see what im talking about here is my thread hosted on another civic site.

First of all u have to sand down the primer smooth to the other part of the body... Next u can spray the whole panel if u never color match before... Seems to me that would be beter for u but if not then u have to open up a large area that is damage and when u spray u kinda mist it on like not side to side to get full coverage the goal is to get less material on the edges so u don't leave a line and in the middle u spray more material
Thanks for your reply drift, I was not really planing on painting the whole pannel.... im not sure what to do.
Im using a color matched full size can of touch up paint to cover the area, will the paint I spray stick to the old paint, do I need to sand it first? or will it stick regardless.
My plan was to move the tape mask back an inch, sand the primer and the old paint so it's flush and the paint is scuffed up and does not have the shine it normally does and paint that.
Will that work?

well i would move more than an inch since u will most likely leave a line, yes u need to sand everything u plan to paint. use 320-400 grit if using solvent paint if using water base 800 grit and up
here a idea im trying to get at each different color represents a pass of paint so its a heavier coat to less thats what u want to do tape larger around the area so that the light coat wont make a line or anything like that
