quarter panel rust
wats up guys? i have little rust on both of my quarter panel, the rust is about the size of a nickel, can someone tell me the step by step process on how to take it out before it gets bigger?
You can pick up some rust-removal gel, the stuff works really well. It's only about $5, and you can usually find it an any auto part store.
BUT, keep in mind that by using this, you'll screw up your paint job. Because you're supposed to sand down the rust and use the gel.
So yea, use the gel, grind and sand it down, get rid of ALL of rust, then use fiberglass followed by a good filler, and repaint. If it's only a small spot, then you can probably get away with a small tube of touch-up paint. Also available at most auto part stores.
And get rid of all the rust, or it will just come back. Don't rush, take your time and do it right the first time.

If this is your first time, take it too a shop and watch or get a friend to help. Painting a car is very difficult to get right on your first few times.
You'll be surprised once you start... it's always worse on the inside once it is bad enough to see on the outside.

Holy... dude, you are amazing.
I love this guide, thank you. My poor black eg hatch has the typical honda cancer, and it's getting so annoying. Considering some f*cker took an early left and totaled my EJ6 coupe, i'm stuck with driving my (dad's) hatch (that's now mine) in the winter, so if my hatch get's too rusted, i know a guy selling a fresh shell, everything was rebuilt, and it's primed and ready to go.
But, i have to say great job on replacing the quarter panels, this will be so helpful if it comes to this.
