I went to the PPG site and couldn't find Java black pearl, but when I searched by OEM code (18L) I found "graphite black" for 2002-2004 subaru. PPG code 95575.
There was also an autumn gold color for 84' Suzuki. PPG code SUZ18L
I would think Graphite Black is it but don't quote me on this.

hey thanks for your help, but i also looked that up on that site and its not it. the color is java black peral only offered in 2004 only on the sti's. I know the main ppg might have it but you need a password and username to access there ppg access paint system.
I remember telling my painter that I wanted Java black pearl and showed him this picture.
He too didnt find a color in the ppg color code book under that name, so we took the subaru color chips (from years 2002-05) outside and looked at them in the sun. We found it and it was not called Java black pearl. I cant remember what it was called though sorry!
I remember seeing the graphite black pearl and it was not the same, it had a dark grey flake in it and mine is a copper looking pearl. kinda looks like looking through a pint of guiness hahaha.
Sorry I cant remember the code, I will have to talk to my painter to find out the exact code.
Here is some pics of my car with the color sprayed on

My painter also came up with this code a few days ago, but when we made a paint sample on a spary out card it come out almost like a green and not black (if i was to paint the car it would of been green basicly) altho it had the flake in it that javaj black should have. im going to get him to mix up a few more samples of this and make sure he mixes it right, we will also try one with just a shade more black base and see if that helps. ill let you all know how it goes
btw the code was also 95575

The reason you cant find the color java blace pearl from ppg is because like i stated in my earlier post it is a sherwin-williams color.... i posted the paint codes above in my first post. trust me i just went and got it, it is the same color as the factory subaru wrx/sti in 2004
Conclusion:
Well it just so happend that when i went down to the autobody shop were im getting my car painted that there happend to be a ppg rep that just showed up.
The painter and me asked about the java black taht we sprayed out not being totally the same as oem. The ppg rep recommended that we mixed up a pint of paint instead of just the touch up bottle amount which he made up last time.
Well let me tell you the color is wicked now and for sure Java Black preal just like its suppost to be. before it had way to much green pearl in it before.
So basicly to sum it up is java black pearl from ppg is really it after all
. oem paint code 18L, PPG code 95597
