installing rear quarter window
Well someone broke into my right rear quarter window. so im purchasing the window with rubber froma local junk yard. my question is how does that go installed? does it go installed with a specific glue or some type of screws thru the interior of the quarter panel? anyone that has installed one or knows, please let me know. thanks
You have to use a urethane automotive window adhesive. First you trim the old urethane away from the body and the glass, be carefull not to scratch the glass, the rubber moulding on the glass or the body. The you prime the scratches on the body with the appropriate primer, do not prime the urethane on the glass or the body, put a nice 1/2" V bead on the glass and set it in the hole very accurately. Then tape it into position with the door closed, you want it open when you pop it in by the way.
It will take anywhere from 1 - 4 hours to get an adequate cure to drive. And dont slam the doors with the windows up or you could pop the seal so to speak.
