Default hypothetical question

My Prelude is rusting apart on me so rather than sending it to a shop to cut all the rust out (rear fenders, trunk and bottom of doors), weld new metal, drind, sand, bondo, sand, paint, would it be more beneficial to replace the fenders, trunk and door skins with say items like this:

and just get these parts welded then painted on?

Just curious to see what my options are....other than buying another prelude

EDIT: I guess they are fiberglass so maybe not weld them on

Most shops will not use the whole section of replacement panel, they will cut what they need of the replacement, instead of useing the whole complete piece, just to cut down on welding and grinding, filling and feathering the edges.

You might want to ask the shop to treat the inside of the panel and panels that suround the replacement, these cars rust from the inside out, so the part you cut and replace, the sections that are still not rusted through have rust behind them working it's way through the metal.

Ask them to use a weld through primer just so it protects your new panel.

Well actually after thinking this through this sounds like a stupid idea no? Wouldnt fiberglass be flapping in the wind when I drive? Also wouldnt it be tough to metal to fiberglass. At first I thought these panels were metal and not glass.

I wish I could just get a whole carbon or fiberglass shell to slap on

Those Replacement body panels are fiberglass? You can only weld sheet metal to sheet metal. Post a pic of the cancer

Yea Im guessing fiberglass and metal wont bond up very well and probably crack at the seams over time no?

It's mostly the rear fenders that Im most worried about as they have to be welded on but the front fenders, trunk and hood dont obviously.

There is also rust running down the bottom of the doors. I guess there is weather stripping down there somewhere? I think thats what caused it in the first place. Weather stripping going bad and I didnt replace it

Anyway, here is the rust I shot.
