ok, i bought my civic with this dent on the driver side by the fuel door. anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to fix this? id like to take it to a shop but anyone in the ny area who could do it themselfs id be willing to pay
wow. umm..
hmm..
that's a big deal man. if it were a newer model car (still a high value) and it came into my shop, we'd put a new quarter on it. i mean, i'd have to see it in person to actually give you a proper estimate.. but from here it definitely looks like a QP job to me. that's REAL expensive and time consuming. take it to a shop to get a proper estimate. 99% of shops anywhere in the country do free estimates, so it can't hurt to go talk to 'em.

^^^^ i have to agree if that came to our shop that would get a new qt. panel, due to its location and because it looks like there was already some body filler work under the gas lid due to the cracking. so be prepared to live with it or pay heavily you will have to replace the qt. paint the qt. , blend the rear door and the deck lid.
i don't have access to CCC pathways at home, or else i'd write up a rough estimate based on what i can see. it's hard to say without an estimating program because there's no way to tell how many parts need to be removed and reinstalled (R&R), there's no way to tell what parts are going to cost, and i couldn't be sure of what the going labor rate in your area is. i know around here, we're at $46/hr. for body labor. also, there may be hidden damage.
all of those things and more go into determining what something is going to cost from a shop, so like i said your best bet is to go to a local shop and just get an estimate written. a common misconception is that if you get an estimate written, talk to your insurance agent, talk to multiple body shops, etc. you are somehow 'reporting' damage and your rates will go up or something. that's not true at all. you're free to talk to whoever you want. go talk to shops and get a real dollar amount in writing and then you'll know for sure.
i wish i could help you more, but i'd need the car right in front of me to tell you a price... even a price range.

If you can see everything than your estimate really aint worth anything.
I agree with DC2.2_gsr no one can give you a remotly acurate estmate online here without shop guide.

he asked for a guess , i work at a bodyshop cool guy, i put in replacing a qt, and all things i could see along with blend times, and it was around 1700 on our software he asked for a quess and thats what i put out there
yeah j_ i agree with his super rough estimate, my point was that i couldn't give a proper estimate without crawling in and out of the car and then using estimating software.
