Hey all,

needless to say all the advice you all have given me so far has helped. My 01 civic is coming along slowly but surely.

Just got some painting done to the car. Now here is the issue.

The hood sits well closed on the body, it seems to be reared more to the left side. There is a big gap on the right right, and the hood is lifted a bit.

No dents on the hood at all? Any idea on what I can do to make the hood sit evenly?

Trying not to pay the body shop if I can DIY.

If it's sitting too high, try lowering the rubber stop on that side, as for hood to fender gap loosen the hood bolts and try to shift it to the right, if that doesn't work you may have to loosen your fender and try aligning it to the hood.

anyoine else have ideas?

 

1. remove or loosen your hood latch. (the latch can cause ur hood to move when its in the locked position.)
2. loosen bolts on the hinges just enough so u can adjust the hood.
3. align hood to your liking.
4. re-align hood latch and tighten down.

if after trying this and your hood still doesnt fit properly, you may have a bad hood...aftermarket hoods usually fit like crap so keep that in mind.... goodluck

If it is the rear that's lifted, your hood hinge might be bent. As far as the gap, loosen only the rear bolts on both hinges just enough so there's no friction on the hood. Then push the side of the hood from the hinge area towards the gap that needs to be closed. Be careful not to push too hard as you don't want to scratch your fresh paint.
