it depends what type of emblems you're reattaching. usually you just use 1/8" to 3/4" 3M molding tape. sometimes if it's a super thin emblem you'll have to use the extremely thin stuff.

as for getting the excess glue off, if it's on the emblem itself, i use a razor blade for most of it and then Hi-Solv to get the rest. Hi-Solv is basically a powerful wax and grease remover that has some properties of paint thinner, it desolves adhesives real well.

if you're trying to remove it from the painted surface, use an eraser wheel then follow it up with hi-solv to get the rest of it.

razor blade not a good idea.... rubbing alcohol will take the sticky off... try leaving the car in the sun to get the area hot and then try a thick eraser (simular to a artist eraser) they do make a tool that removes the sticky crap off it has a rubber spinning wheel... the shop i work for has one but im not sure how much it costs.

Those astro strippers are expensive as hell. I wouldn't bother with one unless you were going to use it a lot. Even the eraser wheels will blow a small budget if you aren't making any money with them.

Try using mineral spirits or a light thinner to remove the rest of the adhesive if it is giving you a hard time. Be sure that you don't use something so harsh that it damages anything, though.

a razor blade to remove moulding tape and emblem adhesive is very standard. every shop i've ever heard of does it that way. i reccommend it assuming you have some sort of reasonable dexterity and can hold a blade steady and not desroy the emblem. even on the panel itself, it's no bg deal. lay the blade down and pull toward you like you're using a planer on wood. it takes most of the tape off, then you can use hi-solv or an eraser wheel forthe rest.
