getting rid of rust

Default getting rid of rust

trying to get rid of wheel well rust on a civic, and I don't want to bondo it, Can I use sheet metal?

wouldnt use anything else but sheet metal, depending on how severe it is. you'll still have to grind the welds and eventually use bondo to smooth it out, but its still not the same as just putting bondo over rust

If you're going to use plain old sheet metal you'll need to spray the back with zinc coating or something, otherwise it will rust really fast. I try to use old honda doors and roofs myself, the metal is much more rust resistant and easier to shape.

I wouldnt put bondow over anykind of weld or seam. Use a kitty hair filler, it is water resistant and if you have a pin hole or something somewhere it will help seal it.
