Engine bay help
I am painting my engine bay and I have done it before buts been awhile since I havent done any painting I have a few questions like what grit sand paper do I use first on the bay after I clean it and also should I go to bear metal or not if y'all got any advice on how to do the bay plz help but I for sure need help on what sand paper I should use first and wet or dry paper also
It is going to depend on how well you want it to be when you are done.I would just scotchbrite the bay with 3m pads and spray but thats just going to be a factory type finish if you want a glass like finish to really show off the bay its going to take alot more work.I explained it alot simpler than it really is first tell us how you want the finished product to look.
I want the bay to look like glass not just lime a factory job so explain to me what I need to do to do that and what grit to start with and if I should sand the bay down to metal or should I just sand it enough to were I got the dirt an sand off.
going to metal isnt a good thing to do the paint will stick better to the paint there if the bays in good shape just scotchbrite it good an 320 dry sand scratches or nicks it should look pretty good
if you want high quality work, might as leave it to a professional.
cause you cant really do it on your own.(no offense)
painting the way you want it, requires someone who has amount of experience under their belt.
you would have to strip down the engine bay. painstakingly sand down ever nook and cranny with copious amounts of sand paper.
since there isnt a clear coat in the engine bay you wouldnt have to sand down clear coat.
primer, then sand down the primer with 500.
clean and prep for paint.
paint, then clear coat.
