Default del sol project

Heres my del sol that you can see is in pretty rough shape. i will be painting it myself next weekend, i just wanted to get the starting project pics up and then i'll get the during and after pics up asap. you can see in the last 2 pics the rear quarters are rusting... its just surface rust and i know i have to grind it down to bare metal but is there anything i can then treat the metal with to prevent wheel well rusting again in the future? (yes i know its a 4x4, i already have everything to lower it and will be putting it on as soon as the paint is done)

its the si with the d16z6, i got it a year ago for 2,600. where i live del sols are pretty damn rare... i actually wrecked it about a month ago, thats why there is a new fender on it and thats why the drivers side door is dented/ scratched up and the scrapes all down the side are there. it was actually pretty clean when i got it. but the wreck took its toll on it.

damn... yeah 6 grand is a bit much... i actually got mine pretty cheap compared to others ive found in my area so im pretty happy with it. i'll be even happier in a couple days when i can start the body work and paint it. but yeah man im sure you know as well as i do that buying a del sol is all about where you live. they are alot more popular down south and out west but up here they are few and far between. which on one hand is cool cause if you have one your probably gonna be the only one in your area to have one (like me, i dont know anyone else that has one) but sucks on the other hand cause that drives prices up. well anyways i wish your the best of luck in you search bro. let me know if you pick one up.

prime it with POR 15 or rust bullet. im not sure which works better there has been arguments on that before. for more info on either products just google POR 15 or rust bullet. they are rust inhibitors and supposedly stop rust just by painting it directly on the rust. good luck man im a sol owner myself and plan on stripping the body this winter and painting everything with rust bullet. i am dealing with the NY rust issue so i feel your pain.

well i made a little booth in my garage with plastic and floor fans to suck the fumes out the back door... it worked pretty well i think. i got the primer sprayed and will be spraying color tomorrow. i hope it turns out ok eventhough i dont have my hopes held too high considering this is my first time painting a car.

Don't paint anything you're not supposed to paint.
