Default Cleaning Windows

The windows on my 98 Civic were previously tinted but the tint was removed partially and there seems to be residue all over the glass. They always look filthy, when I wipe some of them down with glass cleaner the cloth comes back looking black as if i was polishing something. What can I do about this. I was thinking, hmm acetone might cut through it, but idk i thought I'd ask here just to be safe. Any and all help is appreciated.

I like using a razor blade to carefully remove heaby contamination.... does wonders for build up residue and old tingt film and adhesive...

Then I'd hit the glass with some acetone, great stuff that can remove just about anything... from there on I like Stoners Invisible glass in the aerosol can...

If you want to take it to the next step I also wax all my glass, use colinite 845...

I appreciate the reply, I'll be doing that this saturday, Also it seems that the moron who removed the tint cut through the defroster lines on the rear winshield, can this be repaired or am I just going to have to replace the glass?
