I usually use 80grit to get the deep scratchs out, then go back over with 180 grit to smooth it out, then spray some 2k urethane primer, lightly sand that with 320 grit to get any trash out, then wet sand with 600, then paint it. Just be sure you get sand paper for cars, not wood. When I fill in spots after I've shaved a bumper or fix something, I'll use body filler first, then use that glaze to fill in any imperfections.

Good for body, not for flexible bumpers. It'll likely crack/fall apart unless you're just doing rock chip repair with it (not really the right way to do it, but a hell of alot easier/less time consuming)
its called dont bother. Just get a new one aftermarket for about $65
If you do insist on fixing that. I would suggest not using Bondo brand bondo its garbage. Go to and autobody supply store ang get some Upol Body filler or some Rage Gold. After that go over it with some Dolphin glaze.

ya the plastic repair kit by 3m is good if you have a rip or something. Just to fill minor imperfections regular body filler is fine. I have done it hundreds of times with no problems in the long run. The key is prep work make sure you have a rough surface so the filler has something to bite into.
I use Rage Extreme on bodywork and Polyflex on bumpers.
I've used Rage Gold on bumpers and it's been fine for years on a few friends cars.
Sand down the paint with 80 grit before applying the filler on the body. Never hit your bumper with anything rougher than 80 grit before the filler and after nothing lower than 180.

if u got money... get zebra by 3m or z-grip premium filler by evercoat... kinda pricey but its the good stuff... better then rage gold... (rage gold is made by evercoat also)
bondo usually goes on bare metal/plastic. but with new formulated filler's today such as zgrip, u can put on painted surfaces...sanding down to the paint and starting from there.
but whatever bondo you're using here... i'd sand lightly with 80 then move to 120-150 and finish with 220 to feather edge and/or remove any of those 80 and 120-150 grit scratches... letting the sandpaper do its work... not pushing hard against the bumper.
use primer surfacer and boom paint it.
-in a nutshell.

Z-Grip is garbage @ $8.00 a can I bought like 20 cans to use on some fiberglass projects I was involved with. Let me tell you its not worth them giving it to you for free.
Rage Gold is over $30 and worth every penny
