Is 800grit to fine before i start painting my lip?
It was painted flat black, i wet-sanded it- 400/600/800. just cleaned/dried it.
is 800 to fine for the paint to stick?
do i need prep wipes before i paint?
do i need to wet-sand after it dries? if so what grit?
using automotive touch up spray paint. supposed to be pretty close to oem...
I did my front grill i used 400 and 600, turned out looking good. I will only do self paint jobs for small things on my car mainly on the bottom, lip, skirtks... it doesnt look bad, it just doesnt have a refletion and shin that paint shops can get you!
youd be better off with something less abrasive because if the lip is abs, once you sand down through all the paint then youll start sanding the plastic and youll see that it just sort of melts rather than scratching up like paint would.
it really isnt necessary to go through all those grits, 800 is okay for paint to stick. most body shops and myself personally i prep the surface with 600 before i paint.

No difference. As long as you scuff the plastic it will give the paint something to stick too. It's also wise to use an adhesion promoter, an adhesion promoter should always be used on raw plastic.
You don't have to do steps in grit when scuffing the plastic. You could have just used 400, or 600, or 800 etc... You could have also scuffed it with a 3M scuff pad and sanding paste.
