2 tone
the goal is to spray the hood/hatch/roof and leave the orig color on the rest of the body. everything i want to paint is seperated by body panels except at the back of the car. how can i apply the new paint and have a smooth transition to the factory paint at the back where there is no body panel breaks? i dont want a tape line and uneven paint sufaces.
this is the area im talking about

is that so?
doesnt work well with the plan of using single stage... althought i could forget about painting that panel...
anyone ever had bad chipping or flaking from having a hard line like that?

since youll be taping and papering the bottom of the car take a sheet of paper put the tape on it like you normally would, now put it on the car with the tape at the bottom and just fold it over and it should give you a blended line

I think he's trying to tell you to "back tape" it, which really wouldn't be a good idea for 2 toning a car. Back taping is good for primering so you don't get a hard line to sand.
