17" Rims Restore Project, help requested!
Due to the curb rash i've gathered over the last 2 years with this car. It was time to restore these cheap red lip lookin' wheels. But I kinda ran into a little problem if thats the case? I am total newb when it comes to restoring.
Pretty much. I got the rim to bare metal, I ended with 120 grit, because I bought a Filler Primer by MOTIP.. Decent enough result, so I went to wetsand these bitches about 2 days after priming. But I sanded right through the damn layer, Plenty of soap & 400 grit.
Not even that i sanded it hard, I did like 4-5 light movements, and its back to bare metal.. Is this normal?
I know for a fact that Rustoleum products are generally seen as one of the better products, but these products r kinda scarse in the Netherlands.
Oh also important to add I guess. I used a whole can for the back + front side. Never enough, so im really surprised it came off this easily

Hey you should do the sanding in the primer before you apply the paint.
Your curb rash correction to the scratches should be done before you spray the paint and if you need to sand after you paint it should only be to correct any imperfections in the paint like drips. The paint will lay evenly and look great if sprayed in multiple fog coats. I like the color you used!!!!
