SpoolinPerformance Turbo 370Ci Camaro Build-up
A quick run-down of the build up of my car when i bought it in 2007 - It was a bone stock 1998 Camaro Z28. I purchased it as I've wanted an LS1 camaro since I was in high school. Coming from an import background, I've had turbocharged vehicles since 2003. Curious on what an LS1 would do underboost, I had built a phamspeed style kit that used stock manifolds- However the tubes sat very low and often hit the ground at SLP spring height.
The first setup had the following-
SPoolinperformance Stock manifold under-member cross over pipe- custom built
stock block
LS6 Intake Manifold
Professional Products Fuel rails
MasterPower T70 96 AR P-trim Turbo @ 8 psi
60 Lb injectors
Walbro Pump
Tuned by Nick @ NewtechPerformance on HPTuners
SixSpeedonline built T56
Textralia 0z700 Z-Grip Clutch
stock rear end
with more boost @ 13 psi we made more power but maxed out the T70 turbo
After wanting more boost- I'd install
built shortblock- used beat up purchased for 1K
Tubular Turbo manifolds built by a local shop Spoolinperformance
4" downpipe with 4" E-cutout to 3" downpipe to 3" turboback exhaust
Boost dependent SX Fuel pressure regulator
Patriot stage II ported heads with OS valves
Newtech 232/234 5xx/5xx 115 LSA cam
BorgWarner T6 S475 Turbo
Dual Walbro 255HP In-tank pumps-
Turbosmart Boost Controller
AEM methanol injection kit
Griffin Radiator with custom hard pipe coolant pipes
Custom SP alternator Relocation kit
ThunderRacing coilpack relocation kit
LS1tech sponsor 99blanco custom length MSD ignition wires with 90 degree boots
SJM MFG ABS removal kit with Hurst Linelock
this setup made Great power but sadly the bottom end did not hold up
754 WHP @ 11 psi
After some blow by issues I had SP fabricate a catch can setup for both valve covers
Fast Forward a few months.. During some racing we spun 3 bearings and realized we had a hole in the #8 ppiston due to a clogged meth nozzle- We had installed a check valve from devils own meth injection and it restricted the methanol flow greatly which affected our tune in a BAD BAD BADD way . -
a newer setup with nicer collectors were made to replace the old tubulars and fully backpurged. This time I'm going with a 6.0liter built LQ4 Iron Block.
LQ4 370 Block- balanced blueprinted
Wiseco 4.030 Bore 8.7:1 Compression pistons
Eagle rods
Stock crank
Clevite rod. main. and cam bearings
LS2 timing chain kit from ls1tech sponsor Yank
Same newtech performance comp cam shaft
cleaned up Patriot heads - new 3 angle valve job
Mcleod RST Twin Disc clutch- fully balanced with Flywheel
Moser 9" rear end from LS1tech sponsor JAWSGEAR
we're going a single walbro in-tank feeding a Bosch 044 fuel pump with -8 Feed line to the rails and a fuel lab regulator
Rebending Linelock and all brake lines to route cleaner
New Spoolin Crossover for T4 based turbo + single 44mm gate outlet
4" downpipe to 4" cutout with closed loop slip fit dumptube
T76 Q-trim Masterpower Turbo * missed the great midrange from the smaller turbo. Hopefully we hit 800 on pump 91 octane gas with methanol injection*
Lingenfelter 2 step module
AEM UEGO Wideband Sensor
Heres just a few pictures of the new build up

That first crossover by pham, do you still have it?
Im debating on which way to go, and am pretty set on using truck manifolds. Did consider your tubular kit when i saw it for sale on ls1tech.

the phamspeed style sucks . i built it myself but theres just no room. but i did it as a quick and easy way to get a taste of how a boosted v8 feels.
if you want to use truck manifolds hit me up. i build crossovers n downpipes for them too

Re: SpoolinPerformance Turbo 370Ci Camaro Build-up
after great results with the masterpower T70. I decided to go back to an MP T76 Q trim. my powegoals for this setup with the T56 6-speed is only 800 on 91 pump with 100% meth injection. Anything more than 800 is an issue with the transmission. Plus my clutch and fuel setup is limited to about that power.

Any reason you are staying with the cathedral port heads aside from cost? From what I have seen even the GMPP L92 heads outflow most ported 241 or 243 castings, and the flow numbers with CNC ported LS3/L92 heads are staggering.

Re: SpoolinPerformance Turbo 370Ci Camaro Build-up
The L92's have experienced a lot of head lifting issues in 700+ WHP setups. the deck and strength of the heads is compromised due to the thinner mounting deck.
They've lifted heads, blown countless HG's, push water and even cracked !
in NA form they're great because they flow so well but under boost is a diffrent story.

great job so far. love them LS motors. I had a 98 z28 m6 347 h/c years ago. Wish i could have kept it and continued modifying it....im stationed overseas now so badass V8 cars are out of the question, but when i return to the states in a few years i plan on building another LS-v8 powered car. Would like to build a 33 ford coupe with a 400+ ci LS motor

Re: SpoolinPerformance Turbo 370Ci Camaro Build-up
Finally just took a day off to work on some things for the Camaro.
Few things include- making a shifter plate to cover the M6 hole to adapt the B&M Quicksilver shifter
Why an auto shifter ? Isn't my car an M6 ? not anymore !!
ProTorque Converter
Coan FMVB TH400
painted my intake manifold and fuel rails ( I hated the fading anodizing and dirty throttle body)
Since I went TH400. The T76 Q-trim would not Suffice.. Came across an EXCELLENT deal on an ST80
Extra Spearco Intercooler core ? hell yeah
B-Fab fun ... blank canvas into art
yea ... it fits
on a side note.. something pretty complicated built by B-fab for Redzones Time attack road race S2000
all Fuel components in the car have to be fully covered
