Default Question for anybody with motorcycle economy knowledge

Looking to buy a motorcycle. I've had a Bandit 1200 before. It was a naked 2001, with 10000 miles on it, and I paid $2000. I loved it until my EX girlfriend made me get rid of it. Found another Bandit 1200 but this one is a '98. It has 43000 miles on it, FORTY-THREE THOUSAND. That just seems like a lot to me. His asking price is $2000 but he will apparently take $1500 for it. I'm not even sure it's worth that considering I'll probably need new tires, chain, sprockets, etc. So...how much do you think the bike is worth?

-Forks, brakes, chain, and all fluids were apparently changed 4 years ago when he stopped riding it. So I'm not sure about all that.

-Sprockets never changed to his knowledge

-K&N filter so that should be good to go

-Aftermarket exhaust(not sure what kind)

-Cosmetic flaws such as paint wearing thin
