The 4 door is the final step of Porsche selling out to the bean counters (IMHO)...
I remember when they didn't even have cupholders as an option. Because when you are driving a Porsche, you should be driving it and doing nothing else.
And now a sedan?
Oh well. Thus passes the glory of the world.

i dont see the the car as being a sell out, i think they are doing it so the company can stay profitable and continue to produce the gt2s and 3s.
This is the same old song and dance that people complained about when the engines went to water cooling, but thats worked out so far too.

The water cooling was absolutely necessary for emissions purposes and bigger displacements. Ehh whatever, I refuse to touch a 911 newer than '89 so I guess none of it concerns me anyways, lol.
Im gonna step out on a limb here and say you have not spent much time driving any of the newer porsches
Call me crazy but its the quality and styling. Some people like the direction Porsche is heading in and some don't. Im not denying that they're a blast to drive. And not all of them are 'ugly' to me. IMO, euro/german engineering and reliability nowadays is no where near what it used to be. I see you're a Porsche tech. I used to be a tech for Benz...boy do those cars suck (from a quality/reliability/longevity standpoint). The same can be said for relatively newer VW, Audi, Volvo etc. I've worked on all of them. Same opinion.
Out of curiousity, how many older pre '89 911s come thru your dealer? Ever owned one?

No i dont own one.
I agree the the older cars are great, i just think the newer stuff (9x7 generation) are overall better cars.
And i think porsche is doing well with moving forward but still staying true to them selfs as much as possible in todays world.

Nakai's newest car... Probably the sickest 993 I've ever seen.

If anyone else knows where there are more pictures of this let me know, I've been searching all over .jp sites and the only other shots I have found are crappy ones on the RWB blog.

Staying true is selling an SUV and a 4 door? I get what you're saying about "todays world," but you cant combine that with "staying true." Whatever though, like I said none of this really pertains to me, LOL, since I'll never make one of those purchases, ever. But it was good for conversation purposes.

As for the Panamera, some owners want a sedan for their daily so they can carry stuff with them, I know my dad is interested in at least going to look at one for a daily so he can carry guitars/amps.
Might at least put this up while im in here

Well in the 70s and 80s yuppies wanted a Porsche they could afford and thus were born the above-mentioned models. Now the yuppies have become old rich men and they want a Porsche that can carry their new wife's kids and not upset their hemroids.
Ok enough nonsense. The Panamera is no more ridiculous than anything else happening in this world right now, and 911's are faster than they've ever been.
Back to it

They have to buy a newer car, and newer cars are different. Porsche has never been a grassroots marque - they've always been premium. Their evolution has been more of a concession to the "demand", as has every other major car company's change, and yet a Carrera S still costs less than any other GT in it's class.
