I think its important to read.
"I think the problem with someone trying to do VIPstyle on a non traditional platform is they don't know enough about the style to really it acheive that VIPstyle look. Sure, any one can slap on nice fitting wheels, slam the car and put a bodykit on and call it VIPstyle, but does it make it VIPstyle? Maybe or maybe not, and who is there to say that is not? If everyone did this, then VIPstyle would get lose in the translation. The style would be as meanless as "JDM", which in it's true form are nothing but original OEM parts (or cars) from Japanese that wasn't available for international consumption.
Call me a purist or elitist, just because I believe that VIPstyle belongs on certain platforms. But if nobody stands up to the real tradition of VIPstyle, then the word "VIPstyle" will be thrown around like any generic term "because it's the next coolest thing to come out of Japan". Do we really want VIPstyle to blow up and be a household word, not me if it's for the wrong reasons. I would rather get respect from the originator of the style than have a US version of VIPstyle so it will be more marketable for the US manufacturers. This is what it really boils down to, VIPstyle is the lastest trend to come out of Japan. And as with any style that comes out of Japan, alot of people want to be a part of it."

Cars associated with VIP Style usually have common characteristics; usually large diameter rims (usually broad faced designs) with low offsets that sit flush with the fender, exhausts that stick out past the rear bumper (although not so much emphasized these days), a full bodykit or lip kit, glossy paint and a lowered ride height (usually with coilovers or air ride). In Japan, cars use primarily coilovers. It is not uncommon to see extreme negative camber on many vip cars. Traditional colors of VIP Style cars are usually black, white, grey and silver.

Re: (JamesL)
I think the bottom line is that VIP started in Japan, and is usually, and strictly kept to Japanese cars. Most often luxury. Not very often Civics or Accords are VIP styled. Nor are American cars, because we have more of our own style, of just low and huge wheels.
240s can pull it off, I think mostly because they're rwd, but for the most part it's kept to only Japanese high-er end cars.

Junction Produce kicks ***.
And yeah, I agree with the whole VIP = rwd JDM sedans + more luxury. But then there is VIP styled rides and there is also Dub, Donk, and there is just plain old Bling.

If you're referring to this article: http://www.vipstylecars.com/mo...&id=1
That's John Liwanag and he's just the founder of vipstylecars.com, not the president of Junction Produce. Also, he clearly states that cars modeled to follow the VIP trend, are considered VIP "Style" regardless of their origin.

si vtec ftw: Hell, you dont have to make a big deal out of it. I'm under the impression that it meant big cars that are low slung with ridiculous wheels on them. Also might wanna look into that fainting issue, might be blood pressure related
On another note, that cadillac looks alot better than most of the other ones.
