Official Datsun 240/260/280 thread
I tried the search feature but came up empty handed.
I would love to begin an old "Z" car project in the near future and need some inspiration. I have seen some beautiful examples floating around and would love to see them lumped together.
OEM is great but I'm in the mood for some modded pics. If you know the mod details post them as well, I'm new to the datsun markert.
Thanks
Well, Post em' up!!!!!

Re: Official Datsun 240/260/280 thread (cbmprelude)
Here is a quick rundown on my parts...
3.1 stroker (2.8 block from 280Z and Nissan Big Bore kit), N42 head, triple Mikuni 44mm carbs, Mikuni manifold, 280Z 5 speed tranny, R200 rear end, MSA header, 3" piping with JIC Magic Ti muffler, sectioned/welded coilovers, Longchamp XR4 rims (15x8 -14, and 15x7.5 -7) with Toyo tires, Nardi deep corn wheel, Cusco braces, and a bunch other stuff.
240Z's are getting pretty expensive nowadays so expect to pay at LEAST 5K-8K for a decent one with minor rust.

A lot of it depends on the area. If anyone was to purchase one it would be better to make it out to a western state (Arizona, Cali, Oregon, NV, Wa, etc..) The Z's rust like crazy and even most really good Z's will have a little rust. I would spend a bit more and get one with a decent body/frame rather than going cheap and trying to restore a rust bucket.
I think 5K is about right for a rough bodied/small amount of rust (easy repairable) that runs well.
Another thing people have to look at is that you really don't have a large selection of parts...nothing like Honda's. You want coilovers? You either custom make them (cut the strut tube/weld on a thread collar, and go with a shorter stoke shock) or spend big bucks (like 3K) for a custom set. Same with a lot of other parts..there really isn't much of a selection (like a header, exhaust, etc..)
I will admit the cars are a blast to drive though. I'm a huge fan of old front engined 60's GT cars like Ferrari 250's, XKE's, and others and you definitely get that old school feel with the Datsun. The sidedrafts just sound amazing too...like an old classic racecar where you here the induction noise scream when you floor it. I don't even have a working stereo in my car and I really don't have plans to fix it...if that tells you anything.
Here is some vids of old school Z's with sidedrafts...

Re: Official Datsun 240/260/280 thread (Dacalac)
oh wait here is a crappy camera phone pic of my Dad's black 260z. Not the best quality but you can see how reflective the black paint is. Girls were using the hood as an impromptu mirror.
