Re: Montana MT 406 unOfficial Page
Anyone got a running OBDI or OBD0 single cam? If OBD0, I need a good condition A6. Would really like a Z6 and to convert the wagon to OBDI, but its a budget car so whatever I can get in it to get it running would be sweet.
I've got some other stuff I can do to get the engine running, but don't really want to, lol.

You're like a woman. You say what you dont mean and dont mean what you say, but expect everyone to know what your thinking while saying something completely different.
Dont be jelly, cuz mine is cleaner, lol.
Besides - your wagon consists of my old parts anyways. Thems old news.

Neither of you can deny a 4bt would be badass. And fox, you're the one researching bro-diesel exhausts for your dirtymax.
And we shouldn't battle over the wagons, we'll let the snow-racing speak for itself, lol.

Are you looking to do it right?
And do you have the money to spend to do it right?
A good quality cage install (per NHRA spec) is going to run some coin. You've got to take into account ~$400 in material and A LOT of hours of Labor for someone to do it. And it has to be someone who can properly weld, cope and fit a cage.
You're probabaly looking at $2K minimum for a proper cage. If you're serious about doing it, and doing it right I can point you in the right direction.

So anyone that can build a decent cage, but it isnt going to want more than $1000 would be good.
Just a 6/8 point not the whole shabang. This is going to be a DD.

Call around. For enough stock you're looking at around $400 in materials here. JDMSolutions JUST put a cage in his EF Hatch in September. The were at least 100 hrs getting it in and proper. The last thing you want to be doing is welding 1" gaps. Coping the tubing is a time consuming process - getting the angles right. And the most important thing, keeping it within spec and SAFE for the driver.
A shoddy cage is more dangerous than not having one at all, but its your car - do what you like.
And there is $400 in material sitting on the shop floor in our shop right now for another cage that's going to be done. It was purchased Wednesday of last week.
My best advice to you, is pre-bent - but you do get what you pay for. They're pretty universal and although they fit, it definitely doesn't look as good or have the personal fit as a custom cage.
BTW - The one in JDMSolutions' car was quoted by a local fabricator to run between $3500 and $4000 if he would have done it.
SAFETY is not something to cheap out on, ever.

+1 on korys comment. I work in noth dakota and I came back home, went to the shop and there was foxs cage all ready for me to weld up. I give props to johnathan and fox for the great fit up they did on all of the coping. I just bought a new TIG so if you want to talk about a cage, I could do the welding end of it. You'll probably have to talk to johnathan about bending the tubing or you could buy a pre bent cage and I could weld it in. Give me a call or PM me and we'LL talk. 4068552108
