I'd like to buy I need to get an SFI approved Jacket before they'll let me race and I don't know if I can get off work today to go get one. Hopefully the day isn't as busy as I think its going to be and I'll try and get out there. I really want to make a few runs.

I'm not going to have time to go get one so I am wondering if I should just go out anyways and hope they let me make a few runs. Maybe I'll just sneak out of work and go buy one and come make a few runs! It sure sounds like fun.

I just called around and no one has them in stock so I guess I'm not buying one. We'll see I may just chance it anyways cause I really want to make a few runs.

I think I'm going to try and come make a few runs. I just need to get off work and go put the drag radials on. So I think if they'll let me run and it doesn't rain then hopefully I can make a few passes tonight. My car has been running great so I really want to run a few times.

EGJDM it was nice to finally meet you last night. I wish my car would have been getting traction and that the boost controler wouldn't have shorted out so I could have kept racing. I left cause I was bummed the wiring was messed up and went home to see if sodering it would make it work again, but no luck so I guess I'm ordering a new solenoid right now and I think I might get some new tires cause the MT's were breaking loose in 3rd and 4th and it was getting kinda scary.

Anyway other than my car not running the way I like at the track it was a really fun night getting to meet some of you guys. And EGJDM thanks for the electrical tape, I sure wish it would have worked so I could have mad more runs. It sucks going backwards and running mid 12's cause you can't get traction. I can't decide if I should just fix the boost controller so I can race a few more times this year or if I should start my project early and pull the engine out.

Old and dumb, but not too dumb to offend some Honda fans

-----

How to Make Your Honda Fast
Honda House o' Duct Tape (HoDT) is offering this unbelievable special
to build the 9-second Honda of your dreams! This is a limited
time offer so act now!

1) 6 Rolls of duct tape, your choice of color. Our studies have shown
that by duct taping the seams of your car, not only will you become
more aerodynamic, but your car's body panels will be protected from
the sonic boom you'll hit when you break the 10 second barrier!
Performance gain: 6/10ths

2) HoDT Box o' Decals. A box of neat-o decals that are guaranteed to
stick to your Honda! (Unlike other performance shops, we GUARANTEE
ours stick!). By covering up your rough, high-drag paint with our
smooth, glossy decals, your Honda can slip through the wind like a
cruise missle! Unconfirmed tests have also shown that by putting
a mirror in front of your newly-decal'ed Honda, you may improve its
self image as a boy-racer and inspire it to run stronger!
Performance gain: 5/10ths

3) Colored windshield-wiper double mini-wings. A tried and true
mod that helps round out your aerodynamic improvements. By redirecting
the flow of air, you create a virtual vacuum around your Honda. At
50mph or more, this is the equivalent of removing 500 pounds from
your car!
Performance gain: 5/10ths

4) Glue-on fake cellular phone antenaes. Static electricity may
build up on your car and noticeably increase your weight! Our
antennaes help you dissipate harmful free electrons. As an
added benefit, they serve as a wind-rudder to help keep your Honda
pointed straight when it breaks the 10 second barrier! Just remember
where you heard it first!!!
Performance gain (depending on your accumulated electrons) 3/10 -
6/10ths

5) Ultra-lowering springs + worn out stock shock combo. You have
a fast, Level 4 Honda that's running 14.8's (17.0 - 2.20), your car
is itching to fly, but your springs and shocks won't let it!! Upgrade
to our ultra low, no-suspension-travel springs, and our pre-wornout
shocks! Lowered Hondas bounce because they are so fast, they are
practically flying! They make it several inches off the ground before
gravity forces them back down to earth (hence, the ultra-bouncy motion).
Our shocks are carefully worn out to avoid restricting your Honda from
being the free spirit that it is. Our springs substantially lower your
car's center of gravity, and you know what that means: less gravity,
less weight, faster quarter mile times!!!
Performance gain: 7/10ths

6) Cat-bypass pipe. Of all the listed mods so far, the bypass pipe
has the least effect on the power of your engine. But, it accomplishes
a far greater goal; by removing your cat, you increase the loudness
of your exhaust. A loud, harsh noise that eminates behind your car
will scare/spook your poor Honda into accelerating faster!! It's
like dangling a mean, scary Carrot from the end of a stick, BEHIND
your Honda animal instead of in front of it!!! We suggest you
only use this mod at the track, however. Your Honda will be scared
enough on the streets from the Hyundai's, Yugo's, and other fierce
predatory cars looking for a race.
Performance gain: 6/10ths

7) Neon-colored spark plug wires and looms. By using a bright,
energetic color such as red or yellow, you help energize the
electricity that passes through, creating a massively powerful spark.
Performance gain: 3/10ths

8) Performance air cleaner. While this may have no effect upon
your engine's power, we feel it's our responsibility to help save
the environment. Filter the air your engine uses and help remove
harmful pollutants from the atmosphere! Note: This mod will
help you feel better about yourself, and your new state of
enlightenment will improve your driving ability.
Performance gain: 3/10ths

9) Remove unneeded weight. Your Stage 8 Honda is running 12.9's.
Time to get serious! Remove unnecessary items from your car to
save weight and improve your 1/4 mile performance.
Braking system: (50 lbs) 2/10ths
Rev limiter: (50 grams) 3/10ths
Knock sensor: (50 grams) 3/10ths
Seatbeats: (50 lbs) 2/10ths
Air bags: (50 lbs) 2/10ths

10) Colored driving lights. You're knocking on 10's, you need to
light your way! By using high intensity purple or yellow driving
lights, you will create a colored ion stream in front of your car
good for 9/10's and thus 10.8 quarter mile times.
Performance gain: 9/10ths

11) 6" Exhaust Tip. HIT THE 9'S!!! You've got a 10 second road-rocket,
you're now able to chirp your 13x5" tires, go for it all and hit the
9's with a mammoth 6" Exhaust tip!!! The giant exhaust tip uses
2 principles to cut a full second off your time and put you in the 9
second elite. First, it greatly increases the loud, scary
sound behind your Honda, causing it to accelerate from perceived
danger even faster! (See Mod 6 for more details). But far
more importantly, you create a shaped exhaust flow that acts
as a jet boost. That fast, hot exhaust exiting your 6" tip will
rocket-power your car down the runway and into the recordbooks!!
Performance gain: 1 second

Final Results: 9.8 second Honda!!!!

Default Re: (Jdmsolutions)

I've run widebands that close before with no real effects. But if you road race or something where egt's stay hot then the sensor life will drop drastically. And if your egt's are too hot from an un-tuned car you can get really weird readings. I have seen them get too hot and stick on an a/f ratio. If you want to run one close you can buy an o2 housing extension that lets the o2 sit out of the DP a little. Bosch makes them but they are like $90 so not real cheap for what you get.

I don't think I'll pull the engine till winter, but I haven't touched the engine internals since I built it three years ago and I want to put new bearings, rings and seals in. And put on a new oil pump and a few small things. I'm just frustrated because I can't get traction and am not getting the times I know my car should be capable of. I know my driving is the biggest problem. That other 240 that was running 11's last night makes less power than I do but because he cuts 1.6 60's he is able to easily run 11's. So I think before I do anything I may break down and try a few passes on slicks and see what I can without worrying about traction. And in all honesty I am getting scared when the tires break loose in 3rd and 4th gear. Going over a 100mph and having the rear break loose is kinda scary, maybe I'm just a pansy. I'm ordering the parts to fix the boost controller and I think I'll get some slicks. The stock tranny will hate me but a lot of people cut 1.6's for a while before blowing them up. And once mine goes then I will have a better excuse to finally buy the 300zx tranny and do the conversion. Then I can launch with slicks and launch conrtol without any worries.

EGJDM I will be very excited to see your car run when it gets done. From what you have told me about it, its going to be a beast.

Oh I remember the dry ice all too well. My buddies car was the biggest pain, too many small peices and laying in a trunk for too long. It came out really good though.

I really want to go race again, hopefully my new boost solenoid shows up quick so I can have fun with my car before winter.
