Does it vary with speed or bumps? check exhaust shields they always seem to give me trouble but usually vary with RPM's . Get in there with a pry bar and pry **** till something makes noise.

not really, i mean i dont eat fast food so im good there but the tolls, there are none once you get past new york so i havn't had to deal with them yet, but when i go home im gunna have to get an EZpass or have someone drive with me all the time. Wins you crazy points at car shows tho, got me 1 best honda and 2 runner ups just for the fact it was RHD and imported not a conversion

How did you get it registered? The belief of many on this site is that JDM cars are impossible to get registered state side.

But of course you prove that idea wrong.

I had a friend with a skyline who did not have to have a title due to it being 10 years old and stole a vin off a 240 he has.

mcvtec, when you have the car imported you need to take it threw customs and have it pass threw some stupid bullshit test, most to all cars pass its just the emissions tests thats gets you everytime, all you need to do is get a Cat put on and it should be good to go, than they issue you an Assigned ID number and that takes place of the VIN since they dont recognized the JDM VIN numbers, than they give you a new US title and your good to go.

register it just like any other car after that, insurance is a bit tricky since its an Assigned ID number so you have to either go see them or call but other than that its fine.

Thats the Assigned ID number when it went threw customs(NM 186668)

JDM VIN tag (DC2-1103566)

No ****, a lot easier than I thought it would be. I kind of thought DOT would want to stick their nose in...

Thanks for pics too man.

Any chance I could use them to show others?

yeah man no problem, and yeah DOT and the Dept. of highway saftey likes to stick their nose in, all they car about is, is it safe to drive on US roadways and if crashed will it be safe, and most of the time it is cause we have the same in the USA just not RHD, but if you ever mutter the words Import Skyline around customs they will act like its the end of the world and make your life a living hell. im trying to get one over but customs is being a pain in the *** and its gunna cost me like 100k to get it so i gave up on that.

Thanks for all the info bro.

Now I know it's not impossible to get JDM cars legal in the states.

its not impossible, but it can be a pain in the *** if you get the wrong people, some of them dont give a damn BUT you need to be at the receiving docks when it comes over to claim it or they will give it away to someone else plus the cost of it could be a bit cheaper if you know what i mean, cost more to have the car shipped than it was to pay for the car its self, Grand Total for me was 11200 all said and done, than who knows how much to register, insurance is a bit much but than again i am a young 19 year old kid with a sporty car so that was bound to a givin.

i should be heading back to Maine in a few months, maybe we can meet up sometime when im back, go for a drive and try not to get arrested
