I agree that it is bs that he said he would hold the car for you and turn around and sell it, but honestly that kind of stuff happens everyday. Money talks BS walks, I have done the same thing because there are so many flakes who knows who is actually going to buy what.

A verbal contract is a legal contract. Also if you tell someone you will hold for them, you should. I would be pissed.

A verbal contract is only legal up to $500. This does not fall into that category.

 

If you want something, bring cash and buy it right there and then. There is really no point to drive more than an hour to see something if you are just thinking about it. I have so many people saying to hold something and never coming back (everyone can agree with me). So now days, I would sell to whoever comes with cash first.

It's still wrong to hold something for someone and sell it but that's on the seller. I never agree to hold anything for anyone because I would sell to the first person with cash.

*Unfortunately this is true these days... no deposit and well your out of luck... i had had people tell me tons of times hold the car and they will get it. Moment of truth comes and nothing happens, won't pick up calls or anything. **** i have even had throw me deposits down and not show up...

After my experiences i won't hold a car for anyone unless i have a deposit...
