Daily driver work car? Rolling project? Dedicated track-bitch? Homemade turbo beater? All of the above?
I have a good running but ugly 92 CX hatchback for sale. It will need a few things, but it runs and drives very well as is. I drove it through the winter months, and it was a total trooper. It handled great in the snow, and didn't mind the cold too much. The car has had some maintenance but could also use a little love... 207,000 miles.
Location: Terre Haute, Indiana
price: $950 OBO
Good:
Lower mileage jdm d15b non-vtec head and block (90k)
low mileage oem Honda distributor (25k)
Recent tune-up and oil change
Si transmission that shifts flawlessly
Axles, brakes, and back half of exhaust is somewhat new
windshield and headlights are clear and new looking
Bad:
Body damage from falling tree limbs
paint is poor
obvious bondo on rear quarters
fuel pump is tired
front half of exhaust has leaks
oil pan gasket has small leak
suspension is original and squeaky
could use an alignment
MISC:
tires are worn, but a good set is included
door locks are worn, a new pair with keys are included
AC has been converted, but I never tried it. I took the belt off. Previous owner said "It worked for a while."
engine is about ready for a timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment
clutch has lots of meat on it, but the throw-out bearing is noisy
Interior:
rough and partially stripped
complete except carpet
comes with stock stereo from 89 civic
was a smoker car for years
I'm sure I am forgetting some stuff... the car has a lot of, uhhh, character. I am willing to travel a bit to deliver, but only for a for-sure sale.
thanks for looking,
John

**EDIT** I want to be clear about what I think it needs mechanically... First are the tires, they are old and almost bald. Second is the fuel pump. It seems to have trouble building pressure at first and it can be difficult to start if you don't allow it to fully build pressure before you run the starter. (Basically turn the key to on and wait 2 seconds before you start it.) Third is the leaky exhaust. When the car is idling in traffic and the vent is set to bring in fresh air, it brings in fumes. When the car is traveling down the road, there are no fumes getting in.
Thanks for all the interest.

I believe it will make the trip. I drove it to Chicago a few months ago and got about 36mpg in it. That was on some different wheels with new tires... these tires are almost bald and haven't been balanced lately so I'd be more worried about a blow-out than I would be about something breaking down on you.
