Hi I am Gabe. Never owned a Honda but have always loved imports. Have owned a SR20 200sx and a S14.5 also with an SR'DET. I'm glad to be a part of this forum and hopefully can get some help and guidance for my long endeavor I am about to describe....

Okay! Facts.
1.) Back in 2005 my brothers 98 Civic hatch was stolen and damaged while the perp was running from the cops. It has an LS motor and trans (this would be the B16 I believe?) non-vtec as he planned on boosting it. Irrelevant.
2.) The car has been sitting with the head torn off along with the crankcase. The only visible components that start the long list of prep and repair that i can see are....
-the strut towers need to be patch welded er something to that affect (if someone can tell me how to upload pics i can take and post them)
-rims and tires need to go, they were all bent and the tires are dry rotted.
-I've never dealt with a motor er trans er car in general that's been sitting this long and I'm not familiar with Honda's so i don't know what to look for or expect.

More facts...
1.) As i stated before, the head and crankcase are removed. The pistons are pretty dirty (from what i can see) and there appears to be some electrical damage probably from some filthy rodent bastard
2.) I have all head bolts, nuts and random hardware to reassemble, cams with cam gears still attached, journals and bearings etc etc timing belt is still on, wiring harness still attached and much more.
3.) I would like to get the block out, tear it down, inspect and clean the pistons, conn rods and crank. I don't want to put the time and effort into this and just reassemble everything and hope for the best so seeing as half of the motor is already disassembled I'de rather just go the extra mile.
4.) Ive never done any extensive engine tear-down or rebuild like this. The furthest ive gotten really was when I put my BC cams in my S14. I would like the satisfaction of doing this myself and I have a few capable people that could help but any and all information I could get from here would be gladly accepted.

I am in the Harford County area of Baltimore, MD so if anyone would like to meet up or come take a look feel free to email me b00stfrk@aim.com or if you just have any advice or helpful hints those help too. Also if you know of any good Honda specialists in the Maryland area and you think itd just be worth it to flatbed the car there and pay them I have considered that too but thats more of a last resort.

Thanks for reading, hopefully this will be a well documented and executed refurb' that we can all look back on as a forum and appreciate and I look forward to being a part of this online community!
