the thing is that you CAN'T sit the projector too far back so the shroud could fit in there. You will lose some foreground and light will bounce off your bottom reflector and UP causing abit of glare. That's why when you retrofit lights, you adjust the projector as far out as possible(too too far of course) so foreground will be adjusted to be gained the most.
</TD></TR></TABLE>

It's depends on what type of lights you're retrofitting to determine how far forward or back to mount the projectors. All the Preludes I've done, I mount the projectors on the front side of the reflector bowls and sit them as far back as possible and people are still able to use their stock adjusters. Only time I have to make new adjustment screws is when I'm using Bi-xenon projectors

I don't put silicone on the lenses, I put it on top of the projectors. It really depends on how you mount the shrouds in your housings.

I use silicon that's made for motors just so I know it has a good hold. I get it from Auto Zone and it's only about $5 a tube

ya thats what i got. but i dont know which do you guys recommend, silicon or jb weld, because i feel that jb weld would hold better since silicon would melt from the heat of the hid, no? why do you guys think the jb weld isnt good?

thanks

I haven't had any problems with silicone melting on people, so to me, silicone works great and I've been using it for over 3 years now and JB weld is good depending on what you're using it for. I use it to keep the screws in place so they don't back out causing the projectors to come loose

There's no correct/wrong stuff to use. It's really just preference. If you want to use JB weld, then go ahead, but if you wanna use silicone, you can use that as well. Which ever works best for you

hid produce less heat than halogen(around 85-95 Farenhait) so rtv silicone will not melt at such low temperatures. The reason jbweld sucks is due to the lack of adhesivity on "shiney" metals or plastics. Also, it can break with friction(constant vibration and movement). Furthermore, if for some reason you want to change something later on because you want to rectify what you did before or replace certain thing, you are going to have to cut or dremel what was bonded with jbweld.

Oh thanks. I didn't know hids produce less heat since it's so much brighter.. And also I have regular "clear silicon" and "red silicon" that withstand like much more heat, like 200-300 or sumthing.

Which one should I use or it doesn't matter?

And I'm Just curious, but how much heat does the regular "clear rtv silicon" withstand up to?

depends on what your budget is. Different projectors cost different prices. If you're wanting something pretty decent, TSX projectors work perfectly fine.

You can get projectors at all kinds of places. Ebay, the classfied section, theretrofitsource.com, local salvage yards, ect. ect. There are too many projectors out there to really give a discription of differences. Name a couple, and me or someone else can post some differences.

if both silicones that you have are the same thing but just different color, just pick which ever one. I'd probably just go with the clear

the red one withstands heat up to like 200-300 degrees while the clear one is just the regular silicon...

if you can put it where you don't see it, then use that. If silicone is going to be exposed some place, then I'd go with the clear. Myself, I have black silicone, but it's never exposed since the shrouds cover it up

oh thanks. and just wondering, i kinda dont want to spend money on HID highbeams, but do you think my regular highbeams would be bright enough when i need it? the reason why im getting HID low beams because i want brighter lights and i just want to know if its necessary to change the high beams too.

and out of curiosity, is there anything about black silicon that made you choose that over the other RTV silicons; is the only differenece the color? thanks.
