Default Interior Lighting

I would like to remove my current LED's in my DA and throw in some brighter ones since the current setup is VERY dim. Is there a certain size that is recommended that I use?

Also, I've been searching for those little coloured "hats" that you slip over the LED and I can't seem to find any. I would like to convert the lights to light up orange. This is how the setup was in my old car, and I miss it

Anyone have any suggestions where I can get these?

Just get amber 194 bulbs. I replaced the clear 194's in my cluster with amber ones a long time ago and they look great.

Brighter is not a good idea for the gauge cluster. When driving at night, the brighter the cluster is, the less you'll be able to see on dark roads in front of you.

I actually have my dimmer turned down to about half way to help reduce strain on my eyes at night.

I agree that you should just get amber replacement incandescent bulbs and forget about the LEDs. The reason the cluster is "dim" is because the LEDs are very directional and do not disperse the light in the same way that the factory bulbs do. You just end up with hot spots and splotchy illumination.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I agree, I would prefer slightly more dim lighting, it's just the current bulbs I have are really dim even thought the interior dimmer is set to max Any idea as to where I can find them? Perhaps a website you guys can guide me to?

I can't seem to find them at any local stores here :S

you don't have any AutoZone's around you? Pretty much every auto parts store, Wal-Mart, etc. carries amber 194 bulbs as they come as standard fare on many cars for different lights on the exterior.

Sorry, no autozone, I'm from Canada...they don't have any of these here.

I tried a local 'auto parts' store but they had no clue what I was refering to. I might try out 2 more tomorrow, and I'll leave walmart as my last resort. I find they have 194 bulbs, but not in amber, only blue and white. Thanks a lot for the help, I'll let you know what I come across.

I think amber 194 bulbs are typically shown as 194NA on the packaging. So you might have a store look up that number.

If worse comes to worst and you can't find them, just make me a list of each bulb you need, and I'll pick them up and mail them out to you. I'd just ask you to Paypal me the actual cost of the bulbs and shipping.

Yeah I think I may have to do that. I just tried my local parts store and they said they don't care orange ones. They suggested painting them, but I'm not fan. I'll check 1 more place and then I'm gonna call it quits...I'll keep you updated. I don't even mind paying the shipping and paypal fees.
