Default HID Bulbs on different ballasts

Would it be possible to put a 10000k bulb on a ballast for an 8000k bulb? Im trying to go from 8000k to 10000k but dont know if I actually have to purchase another complete kit with the ballasts, or I can just buy the 10000k bulbs and use them with the 8000k ballasts.

ballasts only power up the bulbs. most importantly, you have to know the right base for your car. If your ballasts and bulbs are aftermarket, then they probably use amp connectors so you bulbs with amp connectors. if your car came with HIDs from the factory then the base is most likely a D2S/D2R so you gotta buy a D2C aftermarket bulb

Going from 8000k to 10000k is just going to make your lighting worse...

but to each his own...
