ok i have a type s 6 speed tranny and it won't go into second when i try to put it into second it just grinds it doesn't want to pop in i replaced the shifter cables hoping that i just had streched cables but that wasn't in now i'm stumped could it be the syncro or the shift forks i had the same problem in my rsx so if anyone has had the same issue or what not any help would be appreciated

i had a similar problem but as far as i know and what i learned in my experience, if its grinding and wont go in gear, it could be your second gear set or the syncro. usually if its the fork your tranny wont even grind. sorry about your problem and hope this helps

 

it can be a few things. Syncro, slider or the fork.

 

Its definitely the 2nd gear syncro that went. On top of that the syncro teeth on the gear and sleeve are also probably shot. That whole 2nd gearset needs replacement.

23432-PNS-315 GEAR SET, COUNTERSHAFT SECOND (02-06 rsx) $296.77 (includes 1st-2nd gears synchros and countershaft 2nd gear)

The more you drive it like that the worse it gets, remember that all those metal shavings are in the oil!
