Default tensioner reset

Good day
Had an issue with my motor
Before I could get the used motor I tried a timing chain kit
The engine is hooped. Got my used motor and am in the process of transferring known good parts, new water pump etc to the used block.

How do I reset the hydraulic tensioner. It seems by lowering the arm which disengages the locking teeth?

Thanks
James

You must hold the locking arm back as you push the piston into the tensioner body. IF the motor is still together all you do is turn the motor backwards untill the tap lines up with the hole on the side, then you put in a thumb tack or paperclip to hold it.
