92-95 EG Fuel Feed Line

I always remember using a 5/16 AN compression fitting for adapting my fuel lines. Is this different on an EG or something? I bought the usual 5/16 to 6an and it won't go over it. So I then read that it's 3/8, and that's too big. What gives?

Metric adapter should work better. Is this for the line coming off the firewall?
