270whp K24A / k20a2 Recipe with dynos
Greetings,
I will get right to the point. Accord k24a4 is the cheapest k24a motor you can get from a junk yard.. around $600-$1000
Once you have it, you remove the head and remove the pistons and rods and the oil pump too.
JE pistons for $420 off ebay or other online store 13.5:1 compression 87mm
IB spec rods k24a $450
ACL racing bearing set from ERL performance $180
Cometic gasket for k24a 87mm 40/1000
installed
bearings installed
domedomedome!
We had a machine shop drill a hole for an oil cooler on the k24a
and then we put the k20a2 rsx type s head from the previous motor that used to be a k20a2.
Ready to go with the IPS CAMS K2
Car also used a stock RBC manifold (2006 civic Si manifold) and stock Throttle body witht the karcepts.com adapter plate to fit it. Also a k20a2 oil pump was fitted on the k24a block.
Car was started and street tuned to achieve a good A/F and was taken to inlinepro and tuned by Brian Fisher.
Here's a list of interesting dynos of that motor....
First one, on the day of the first tuning session after 10 dyno runs
here we took the car at the local dyno at dyno dymanics near Pittsburg, PA
WE are comparing the inline pro map vs the IPS k2 basemap NOTICE THE 10WHP difference between 2 different dynojets
Here since on the same dyno, we are comparing the same car, same head with different blocks... One was a stock k20a2 with the IPS k2 cams and the other is the k24a built 13.5:1 compression one
Here's a video of a 200whp TSX EG vs a 270whp K24a Civic ...lol 70whp difference can go a long way
http://www.k20a.org/nikosvsmarkstop.MPG
On that video he fast hatch also had 5.02 final Drive which made it even faster. Needless to say after that weekend, I pulled my stock TSX motor and started looking for something better , LMAO
Car run a few times on the 1/4 at Pittsburg raceway which is at elevation 1200ft
Best was 11.7@ 116 with a 1.68 60 ft and 24.5 x 8 x 13 slicks , no traction bar or skinnies
For next year, we are going to try something more aggressive to get us in the low 11 region.
I made a decent attempt to cover everything but ask away if you have any questions

dtr fab header 4-2-1
kteller 3 inch exhaust
Hondata K pro
on 93 it run 11.9
on 50-50 mix 110-93 11.7
Have a tune for pump gas with nice a/f ratio and one for race gas for the track

very nice. did you guys have to take any extra precautions to rev it that high?

Note that the stock k series springs are almost as stiff as aftermarket springs for other engines.
Good tutorial, though I don't see how its any surprise that this thing makes 270whp. 99mm stroke, 13.5:1 compression, baller cams, a good intake manifold, and a baller header.
There are plenty of 95mm h22s making this kind of power....you can get similar results with a port on the h head, the k just plain outflows it from the factory, though with a good valvejob, the h head can flow the same as a K.
I wish honda would have made an oem 99mm crank for the h22.....didn't I hear something about putting a k crank in an h22 one time??

pocketrockets has made some, rlz made john's h22, missing gears makes over 280, not everyone posts up their numbers on h-t
all I am saying is that the H is just as capable of making the same power, with the same parts, short of a head port

H series makes 200 lbs of torque with a simple build up?

The green civic pulling away has the 260whp motor described in this thread above.
The civic video taping has a stock (200whp) TSX swap with bolt ons and K-Pro.
