New.
Hello.
My name is Blake. Here is my car history.
At 15 I got a 4runner for Highschool. Loved it. Threw 2 rods, put a new tacoma 5 speed motor in. Sold it. Bought a 94 Civic LX 4door, Hunter green with the gold pinstripe. I loved that car. Took it from TN to CA for school. Got home got bit by the 2 door convertible bug as some of us do in our stupidity of younger years. Bought a lemon MR2 Spyder. After getting wrapped up and frustrated, multiple speeding tickets, decided to get rid of it. Maturity level was not there to own and drive a car like that. Got a Ridgeline. Still have it. Its an 05 , white, "stormtroopered", just turned 230K! Bought the wife a 04 Jetta last year after moving back from Chicago to TN. Threw about 3grand into that thing over the first 6 months of owning it. Tranny went out -2200. Sunroof broke -750. Got it going and took it back to the lot I got it from and traded for my pre-4runner dream car. A Hatch Civic. Its a 2000 DX. Red. Base model. No AC. NO CD or Tape. No power anything! previous owner threw a set of 02-03 SI wheels on there! Just turned 160K! Original D16 and matching tranny! Not a thing wrong with the car! Except its auto
But I only need it to be a gas efficient work car for now.
So here is the plan. Give advice and whatnot if you like.
Im going to right off the bat find an AC to throw in there over the winter.
(fun first project)
Change the rotor/caliper to the 10.8 SI setup. (can I use the existing caliper and just buy a rotor and pads?????)
Find out which Koni GC setup is best ( I do a ton of snowboarding and driving around east TN {think about the dragon} so having the handling and stopping power is something that will be well used even if the powersource is weak, id like to enjoy driving the car and still get the awesome mpg as long as possible)
Then start looking for some sort of swap in about 2 years or so.
So that when I am ready to swap, I will have the stopping power and suspension done and it can handle it.
I really wanted to do some scca with the MR2 a while back. But now that Im married and I have those life chores set and going( house, boat, job, daily driver) I can have a car like this to play with. I didn't have the resources, maturity (to keep out of trouble on the street) , and most importantly the funds to take on a project like this.
So keeping her OEM-ish for a bit (looking like 2-3 years max) then swapping and making her scca/road specific is the plan.
A bit about my other hobbys. I grew up in a MX family. Grandpa had the first Suzuki MX shop in east TN. Dad and Uncle Raced all their life. My grandpa is 77 and still raced Enduros and Cross Country. I races MX while I was little, switched to Enduro/ Hairscramble in HS and eventually to Vintage MX and Observed Trials. I have an 81 Honda CR250 (the bike jeff ward invented supermoto on in Carlsbad). We have about 27 fully raceable vintage street and Mx bikes in the fam. We all go to Barber once a year, Gramps helps put on the event. I also got way into wakeskating ( not wakeboarding or wakesurfing). Its a blast. Started a company that makes the only electronic winch for wakeskating/boarding. Basically 4 wheelchair batterys, a brush motor and 1200 ft of wakeboard rope....so you can wakeskate/board without using any gas , or a boat... watch here if you are interested http://www.boodogwinches.com/?page_id=295
Anyways I am so happy to have an all HONDA family in the garage!
I hope to get some great info from this place. I already have been ripping through threads like an addict. If anyone knows of an EK GURU in the East TN area that i can go talk to and ask billions of questions point me in the right direction!
Cheers!
Blake

It had a fresh paint job in the last year or so. Pull me over RED. I love the red but I'm going to save it for the track. So I am Plasti Dipping the whole car. OD GREEN.
So I ordered the pro car kit in green. Before it came I got to HD and Lowes and bought all the black and grey they had. Did a base Coat of Grey. Got the door jams and rims coated in black.
Doing the green dip this weekend.
