Hi everyone. J.a.f.o. ( just another f'n observer ) is my my handle and as the name implies, I am a quiet kind of person. I have been working on cars for almost 40 years, but this is my first attempt at the Asian platform. I used to fix up and street race VW's, and until my son talked me into buying my current resto I really had no interest in these cars.
I purchased a 1996 Honda Prelude SI 2.2L SOHC with a blown headgasket. The first thing I discovered is the engine built for the car was 2.3L DOHC. No matter, I started researching and decided to stay with the 2.2 because of many articles by Bisimoto that show insane horsepower and torque from and n/a engine. While I am not going to that extreme I would like to see upwards of 175 h.p.
I have started with the purchase of a low mileage f22a6 engine, delta 272 cam, h23 plenum, a wide band o2 sensor, and had a custom built ECM by Mad Fab Lab with multiple plug and play chips. The only thing I probably need to reconsider is the D2 headers. I guess they are on the low end of the budget.
I have had this car for around 2 years now and have just been collecting parts but am almost ready to start the build.
With the exception of the dashboard, the entire car has been stripped down. The bodywork is complete but not painted as yet. I have removed toe A/C, Powersteering (and will rebuild the rack properly), all new poly bushings, removing the ABS, it would surely be a help if someone can point me in the direction of a good article that could help me along. New struts will be mounted soon, but I have yet to decide on brand. I don't want overspend or underspend either, hey I'm 55 years old this build is more for the thrill of it than to stupid on the steet. Those days are gone.
When that is all complete I am going to paint the car the original R81 red, complete the interior which will remain pretty much stock then finish up with the engine and tranny.
Anyhow, I am not sure if this is what intruducing myself means, but there you have it........
Edited everything but the heading. INTRO
