New to the forum and just dropping by to say hi. I've been on the website a thousand times but never registered so today's the day. I bought a 1994 Acura Integra ls 5 speed last year with 300,000 mi on the clock and here soon I am going to start throwing money at it. Overall its been a pretty decent a to b car, have fixed a couple things here and there on it but nothing major. I want to rebuild my motor for boost and I know I'm going to need a little guidance along the way so I plan to invest a little time here. I have read and watched videos with conflicting advise as to what should be or don't need to be done to the block and head before starting a rebuild so I will ask. Should I have the head and block resurfaced by a shop before I start my build and if so what else should I ask them to do? My plan for the build is to have around 200 whp and my budget is not yet set in stone. My plans are to build the engine this fall and boost next spring. Budget for the rebuild needs to stay at least under $1000, can this be done with my expectations? After I do a rebuild will my car be streetable till I boost in the spring with a stock ecu or will I need a stand alone unit and a tune? I'm new to boost but have done minor work on cars, pretty mechanical, I would like to do as much work myself as possible. Thanks for your advise.
Here is some pictures of my car. Tomorrow I am buying a 2001 4 door ls that was smacked in the side and totaled. The engine only has 160,000 mi. and the head was rebuilt by a reputable shop, has receipts to prove work. I did a compression check and all the cylinders are within 5 to 10 psi right around 180. I feel like I got a killer deal at only $900 especially since the rebuild and all the parts I can use off of it. Car has I/H/E, HID headlights, spotless interior, cant wait to pick it up and drive her home! Still plan to boost but now I can take my time on the old motor and build it right. For now I'll just swap over the low mileage engine into my car for the winter.
Wow....no support from this community at all. Most other car communities I have joined in the past are all really quick to respond and very friendly, stupid question or not and even if you did get flamed a bit for newb questions someone always is willing to reach out to lend a hand.

Well, you are in the "Introduce Yourself" forum. Most of the people expecting answers, go to the forum that most pertains to the vehicle or nature of the questions they have.

I did go to the Integra forums as well and left a message explaining my situation. I was mostly referring to a lack of greetings from other members but oh well I'll get over it.
