Default 2023 Introduction

HI all! Been with this site for a long time but rarely, if ever posted; so this post is my cars re-introduction! Thus I present to you, this totally molested 2000 model Honda Prelude. This car has had 3 owners, with me being the current, and has had its fair share of abuse over the years. For those that dont want to hear more, no problem. Skip to the pics, as this was the TL;DR

The longer version is as follows. Ive owned this car since the early 2000's, back when I didnt know much about working on vehicles and did what most young folks did back then..Add a bunch of "ricer" parts for that go fast, tried drifting this car with McDonalds trays and in the snow, and even took it off road a few times. But aside from that, this car has been a real trooper through it all. Its also endured multiple 2k long trips across the USA, had a failed hydro tensioner that caused a cylinder head rebuild; that notorious trunk leak led to my car getting flooded during a deluge (should have taken pictures of that...car had so much water in it, I initially had to scoop it out with a bucket, from the front seat) and now sits awaiting a full resto-rebuild++ after a failed rear main seal.

So yeah, its been through some stuff. But after nearly 20 years of ownership, I have no intention of just junking this car or parting out, hence the aforementioned resto-rebuild++
What is a resto-rebuild (plus, pluis)? Well, its been a recent thing over the years...car owners take to restoring their car to varying degrees, while giving a healthy mix of performance, functionality, and "stock-ness" to their builds. This will be roughly the same. But what about the "plus, plus"? Aside from the above, I will also be adding some more heavier performance things to this car, making it what I would think a 2020+ version of a prelude would be.

Ill go into more detail about it as I start the full rebuild process and start a thread on it, but the short and skinny is as follows:

- Stock interior, aside from what is necessary to facilitate other modifications (think ECU/Heated seats/re-wiring)
- Audio system is already tastefully modified, so it will not be touched
- Suspension is getting a full teardown and rebuild - many parts will be replaced, cleaned and overall fancied up (no coilovers)
- Engine is getting a full rebuild
- Possible non-JR supercharger setup
- Body is getting repainted and tastefully modified to a slight degree (no gaudy body kits, wings, spoilers, keeping stock wheels, etc)

This rebuild will take time, and wont be something that is sped-run like many other rebuilds. Its also the start of winter in my area, so my goals before the end of the year is to remove the engine/tranny, take apart the front suspension and start working on (suspension) components first. And finally, this car was originally automatic and while its outlived its peers, the amount of horsepower I would like to see (even if I decide against supercharging) would require a manual. So it is getting manual swapped.

This concludes the "long" version, so feel free to ask questions, suggest advice, or just shoot the **** with me. I'd love to rabble on about my experience in this area, car stuff or driving in general, but this is a honda forum, so im still happy to talk about Hondas. Especially the K series engine. Like seriously, what a really great design. Pics attached

Pic as it sits right now. Ignore the coolant spill, lol. Its been cleaned up

Engine bay as is. This is going to be a lot of fun work!

Majority of the brake and suspension components gathered thus far. About 70% of the way there. Somewhere in this mess is the start of the transmission parts.

Work area I started on this week, for most of the winter work. If you look closely, youll see some of the components for the supercharger setup. A bit of a spoiler on my plans with that.
