Default z6 block with b7 head

Ya I know, pointless, however it is for my brother who just needs a reliable daily. We are planning to go with the b7 head to not have to do any vtec wiring, but need to know what all is needed. What head gasket to use? What timing belt to use? ect.

A6 head is the same cast as the B7 head.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Head gasket is up to you, make note that different ones have different thicknesses and will alter your compression ratio a bit.

too much work, looks like we will either find a b7 long block, or get the remaining parts for the z6. have any information for a y8 head on a z6? we have an auto obdII p28 (from a 97 del sol) I know a jumper harness would work, but what would the details on a y8 head on a z6 block be?

Too much work? The only crucial "custom" part is shaving down the oil jet to fit in the block.

Y8 head on a Z6 block is straight forward. You just put it on like any Z6 head that's meant to be there. There is a difference in headbolts though, I believe one is different (closest to VTEC solenoid). It is stated somewhere in the FAQ which combination of headbolts you're supposed to use with each specific combination of head and block. Other than that, the one thing you should be concerned about is what compression ratio you'll end up at. It might not be that big of a deal to you but you should at least understand what you're doing.
