Default Wildest hybrid I have ever seen

This monster of a machine is actually a Yugo with a wide body kit, a chrysler 4 cyl turbo powering the front wheels, and a Cadillac V8 powering the rear wheels. The mastermind behind this thing is Bill Grabel who was assisted by the ever inventive Jim McKamey. It was at a couple of INR-SCCA's solos last year.

I dunno...with proper tuning and synched throttle opening that thing would be bad ***. Plenty of TQ to drive the rear wheels and once it gets up there in the RPM range......****. Either way.......tons of work to even get it to run, let alone race competetively. Hats off to the builder.

more info would be nice. V8's make power down low and turbo's (and 4 cyl) make power up top. Sounds a little mismatched to me, but I bet it still flies.

Yea it's wild for sure. I would think the driver wouldn't be able to stay in it for a period longer than 15-20mins. The heat generated would basically cook the driver. But bet it hauls *** like no tomorrow.

twin setups like that are usually one or the other operating at at a time...

theres a twin engine 1986 crx si here on long island, its red, the guy is from valley stream. stock 1.5 liter in the front, alcohol powered supercharged oldsmobile v8 in the rear.

im trying to find the web site now. he had two sets of pedals that flip down, its realy clean too.

Acutally there is a plexyglass shield right behind the seats between the engine for that very reason, but yeah they were always covered in sweat when they got out.

Reminds me of a Tiburon that was in SCC about 2 years ago it had 1 turbo 4 cylinder running the front wheels and 1 turbo 4 cylinder running the back wheels. They were both automatics and the cool thing was he could put the front wheel in drive and the rear wheels in reverse and do some crazy burnouts. I think the 0-60 on that thing was like 3.3 seconds.

Well I just got back from INR's first solo of the year and guess what showed up, the Yugo. Only now they took out the 4cyl turbo and replaced it with another 502 V8! Thats right there are now TWO 500+ cubic inch V8s powering this thing. I asked how much it weighed, all he said was, I am not sure...a lot. And later that day someone asked how he got the front and rear to work together, the answer is he didn't, they are independent of each other. Then that same person asked "isn't that hard to drive?" And the answer was "I don't think he cares."

He only takes it around to local Solo events, it is just a toy for him. And it is not very reliable. It used to have huge rubber front and rear, but it was also tail happy (this is when the 4cyl turbo was up front), so my guess is that he wanted to decrease the oversteer.
